Hey everyone,

Because Brian recommended blog commenting as an effective way to drive traffic to our sites, I wanted to recommend a tool I use to stay up-to-date on my blogs. If this is an obvious one, I apologize, but my girlfriend brought it to my attention that not many people know of this or use it.

I use google reader http://google.com/reader to subscribe to the RSS feeds for blogs I want to comment on. If you've ever seen that little orange box at the end of the address box, that's what it is. It's like getting a newspaper subscription to your favorite blogs. Just click on "RSS feed" or the orange box whenever you want to subscribe. So whenever I check my email in gmail, I can also click on "Reader" in the top left corner to check my subscriptions.

I personally recommend getting in the habit of spending an extra 10-15 minutes after email to check blogs and comment on any new posts. Being one of the first to comment on a new post on a popular blog tends to bring a decent of traffic to my own blog.

Thanks for posting that resource, I had always wondered what RSS feeds are. Now I can sign up to them and keep up with the blogs that I want to follow without having to google every blog that I wanted to go and visit.
